These pieces are a new format in an ongoing theme throughout my series: Corrupt Fairytales. The stories that I tell with these pieces can range from personal narratives to snippets of conversations from a coffee shop. The theme is always hinting towards gender roles and reference romance novels and dating guides from the Post World War II era in the United States. I have dropped the frames and backgrounds so the focus is directed on the figure sand the objects that they are holding or wearing.

As an expansion on the new format of enameling that I have been working with, I have started playing with the idea of having my figures wear jewelry by contemporary metalsmiths. This series is called, “My Brooch Wears a Brooch.”

I was able to play with the technology that was available to me at Appalachain State Univeristy and applied it to enameled surfaces. This body of work was inspired by the feeling of home and objects within a house that make it feel more “homey”.
